  • Even with the school year winding down, excitement to be a part of the track and field team is through the roof!  There has been a lot of interest with about 50 students coming to tryouts.  There will be two meets that each have 18 events for our athletes to compete in split between boys and girls.  These events include sprints that range from the 100 meter dash to the 400 meter dash, there is a distance event with the half mile, relay events, and hurdles.  There are also events such as shot put, long jump, and high jump.  The meets are looking to be a great and exciting competition for everyone to participate in or even just come out to cheer on our athletes. Calvin Coolidge is definitely glad to have track and field back at the school where we can hopefully start a new tradition for the kids as they race to the finish.  --Mr. Martinez

  • Mrs. Courtney McCaw and former CCMS teacher Hedy Elliott have joined together to help organize this years' Annual Suzi Russell Walk-a-Thon.  Suzi Russell taught for more than twenty years at Calvin Coolidge until 1998, when she lost her ten-year battle with cancer.  In honor of a dedicated teacher, whose motto was "Live, Laugh, Love," 5th through 8th graders will be eating lunch under the pavilion at the Fransiscan Center in West Peoria, and then walking the track for more than an hour.  Students will be collecting donations prior to the event.   Also, the Peoria High Pride Team and Mrs. Elliott's personal volunteers will be there to help the teachers and students.  Staff and students are looking forward to this day and give thanks again for all the support for Haitian Hearts!!
